Not my chair, not my problem, that’s what I say.

December 3, 2009

New(ish) outfit drawing. I am more stressed out than anything right now.

That skirt/jumper thing is one of my most favorite things to wear. And it was super easy to make, all rectangles.

I’m making them for a bunch of friends for Christmas. Because I am just nice as fuck like that, and plus also everybody likes to look like an adorable schoolgirl sometimes. I think.

I gotta go. Duty calls. Watch this video. It is especially hilarious if you are already feeling delirious due to stress or lack of sleep.

Hey Guys!

November 28, 2009

Ok so… Miss Isabel from Hipster Musings posted a drawing I did a while ago and expressed the wish that there were a blogger that drew all of her outfits. Now that is not exactly what I intend to do all of the time, but I do like to draw and sometimes it is just too hard to get my little brother to take pictures of me (hence the temporary death of this blog) so that is probably what I will do more often than not. (Also if you like the idea of drawn outfits, visit whatiworedrawings.blogspot.com to see what WAY better artists than me are wearing). ANYWAY here is clothes:

Ok so this drawing bites the big one and does my favorite coat absolutely NO justice. Here are some details of the coat in question:

That is the patch on the little breast pocket. Does anybody know what that mumbo jumbo means?

The pretty paisley lining that I inexpertly rendered as sperm-lookin’ squiggles on the drawing.

And here is a picture of the shoe:

Pretty, no?

Thanks for looking. There will be more, this time I won’t straight up ditch. I think. Anyways, thanks for the kind-of-shout-out Isabel! If you are reading this! Which you probably aren’t!

Ok that’s enough of that. Bye!

MY COMPY IS BROKE…

September 22, 2009

…so I can’t write on my blog. I’m sad because I was just getting into the swing of things. Alas, alas. Hopefully it will be fixed soon. BUT I’ve still been keeping up with FASH WEEK like a madman (woman?) and I am LOVING IT. how ’bout that Rodarte show huh? Huh? And Charles Anastase, that crazy little mofo. I was kind of underwhelmed by Christopher Kane to be honest but I still liked it. It just didn’t jazz me like his stuff usually does.

I have noticed that whenever something is weird or slightly dark, Style.com likes to describe it as “Tim Burton-y”. They have done this AT LEAST THREE TIMES this season. At least. And who knows how many times in seasons past… this. must. stop. Style.com either needs a thesaurus or some new fucking writers.

Out of Focus and Starting to Unravel: FASH WEEK DAY 2. PLUS WHAT I WORE.

September 14, 2009

OK HERE GOES:

ERIN WASSON X RVCA : this sweater

rvca

I love this sweater. And actually this collection was not half bad, although the models look so greasy and unhappy, but that’s to be expected. Some of the prints (above skirt) were really cool. And like I said- LOVE this sweater. AH LOT.

CYNTHIA ROWLEY : weird choppy skirts

rowley

rowley2

I really dig what Cynthia Rowley is floating this season. I don’t know WHY because it’s not particularly EXCITING but I like the subtle inky creepiness of it. Especially these weird gaps left in the seams of the skirts. AND those giant fuckin bows. I always like bows.

PREEN : rope details, shoes

preen10

preen102

This rope motif is really interesting. And the shoes are perfect, obviously. But that’s just Preen being Preen. Never disappoints.

Aaaaand here’s what I wore. I didn’t get a picture, so I drew it, a la All This Happiness.

Sorry about the crappy image quality my scanner was on the fritz so I had to take a picture. I love those stompy boots of mine…

Li’l things that I liked about FASH WEEK DAY 1

September 12, 2009

OK so nobody who I’m really stoked on seeing has shown up on style.com yet, but there are a few silly little things that I’m digging from what I’ve seen so far:

ORGANIC BY JOHN PATRICK : sexy stockings

john patrick '10

john patrick 2

Mostly I felt that this collection was meh. But I think these two looks are really cute, kind of underclothes-lookin. I like the scrunched up stockings A LOT. They are somehow really sexy but also kind of childish. A Lolita type scenario. Extremely RIGHT ON for Spring  I think.

WAYNE : this fucking dress

wayne2

so I’ve never heard of this “Wayne Lee” person (who is apparently a girl by the way), but she is OK,  although she seems rather derivative of Alexander Wang. Or maybe every collection has a touch of the Wang these days. Pardon my French. But anyway I would kill or die for this dress. KILL. OR. DIE. It just looks so SOFT and PERFECT and I want to sleep with it. And also name it.

RACHEL COMEY : these dresses with the ruched placket things down the front…

comey

comey2

comey3

I’ve become quite fond of Rachel Comey. I just think that this little design detail is really clever and charming. I would wear any one of these dresses to pieces. Also that backpack in the first pic is really cool now that I think about it, which I appreciate seeing as I wear most of my clothes with a backpack. And it totally cramps my style. So I think it’s kind of funny to see it going down a runway.

OK THAT’S IT.

more fash week please, THANKS

top: made by me

pants: Citizens of Humanity (the most expensive piece of clothing I own)

shoes: Old Navy

pearl bow pendant: secondhand

dog: Nigel

I wish I could have gotten a tighter view of the shirt, as it really is one of my favorite things. It’s made from a tattered old vintage little girl’s undershirt, and it drapes beautifully in the back. Sadly the camera battery ran out before there was time… oh well. Next time I wear it I will be sure to snap it carefully. It might even get a post of its own, once I get a handle on this whole journal thing.

Orchid Girl don’t spend your money

September 9, 2009

There are too many fashion blogs for any one person to read. I WANT to read all of them, I absolutely love seeing what other stylishly-minded people are wearing, but it’s impossible. The sheer VOLUME of pictures takes my breath away. And here I am, adding to it!

I guess I just couldn’t help myself. My friends don’t care about fashion at all, at least not the fancy kind with a capital F… so it’s hard, not having anybody to talk to about an interest that is, to be honest, a pretty big part of my life. It sometimes feels like my love for fashion is a secret. So, like an old guy who has a secret obsession with some weird kinky kind of pornography, here I am on the Internet.

Basically, I just want to interact with other clothes nerds who understand my reasons for wearing what I wear even though it may not always be exactly utilitarian or even sensible. And with whom I can critique/tearfully worship various designers and collections.

So! Anyway. I just felt like I had to justify myself, for whatever reason. Here is what I wore today:

What has….

September 9, 2009

…two thumbs, three filthy pairs of Chuck Taylors, and an intense love of WEARING CLOTHES??

Give up?

THIS GUY:

PICT2711 copy

PICT2716

PICT2715copy

First day of school, nothing too spesh. F21 dress, hand-me-down sweater, gifted boots, Target socks, Boyscout belt (formerly my brother’s). Fendi chicken.

Sorry about the bad lighting. What can you do? Clouds, man. Crashin my party.

I love clashing shades of blue, as in the above case of the nail polish/dress combination. I also love this sweater. And that belt. But still… a relatively ‘meh’ outfit. We’ll see about tomorrow, though.

In case you were wondering, I just decided to start this little journal (I’m really not partial to the word ‘blog’ it sounds so… BLOG) to encourage myself to be more exciting in what I wear. I mean, if I have an audience… you know. Greater heights and all that. You might remember me from here. You probably don’t. But if you do, well hey there, good to see you again!
